The aim of the department is to produce Electronics &Telecommunication Engineers, who combine academic excellence with practical expertise. The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering came into existence at Vemu Institute of Technology in 2008 by the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The department has progressed rapidly and is now regarded as one of the premiere departments, with excellent infrastructure in addition to highly qualified and dedicated faculty. Our mission is to develop innovative and simple instructional material to drive the concepts into the minds of students, infuse scientific temper in the students and guide them towards research in communication engineering. Majority of our students have been placed in multi-national companies through campus interviews and many of our students are pursuing their higher education at various premier institutions in India and overseas.
The department actively involves in teaching and research activities, in diverse aspects of Communications like VLSI design, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, and Image Processing. Apart from teaching, the faculty members have been vigorously pursuing research and have been regularly publishing research papers in various National and International Journals of repute as well as in prestigious conferences. The department is well-equipped with state-of- the-art laboratories.

The objective of this laboratory is to develop the fundamentals related to building blocks of analog electronic circuits. Here, students carry-out experiments by designing circuits using breadboards and testing of analog circuits involving discrete components such as diodes, BJTs, MOSFETs, SCRs, UJTs. The student projects that involve analog electronic circuits are also built and tested in this laboratory.
The hardware facilities available are:In electronic circuit analysis lab the students test the electronics circuits which are designed and simulated using Multisim/Pspice/Equivalent Licensed simulation software tool.
Hardware Facilities:Communication engineering lab is one of the laboratories in the department imparting fundamental knowledge related to analog and digital modulation concepts using software simulation tools and hardware implementations. The communications laboratory helps the students to understand the basic principles of communication systems by practical module systems. This laboratory includes experiments both in analog communication and digital communication. The experiments are designed in such a way that the theoretical concepts introduced in lectures are re-discussed and implemented practically. The experiments deals with analog communication basics such as amplitude modulation, frequency modulation, time division multiplexing, phase locked loop, pulse analog modulation, pulse code modulation, and signaling techniques: PSK, FSK, DPSK, and QPSK.
Hardware Facilities:The IC applications laboratory is designed to enable students to understand the functioning of Operational Amplifiers, some important ICs IC741, IC 555 etc. Circuits employing the op amps as the active element are constructed to perform as amplifiers, integrators, filters, relaxation and sinusoidal oscillators. In Integrated Circuits Application Laboratory, students carry-out experiments by implementing and testing of analog circuits involving discrete components and ICs such as diodes, BJTs, MOSFETs and Op-Amps. The student projects that involve analog electronic circuits are also built and tested in this laboratory.
The hardware facilities available are:Microprocessors & Microcontrollers Laboratory offers B.Tech students to learn and provide hands-on experience essential to the real understanding of microprocessors architecture and it's interfacing to the peripheral devices. This laboratory is equipped with the basic 8086 Microprocessor & 8051 Microcontroller trainer kits and also modern Microcontrollers which enable to learn and implement the theoretical concepts pertaining to the Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) and Complex Instruction Set Computing (CISC) architectures. Students are exposed to the latest MSP430 Microcontroller besides the traditional 8-bit Intel 8051 microcontroller architecture. This laboratory is extensively used for conducting lab sessions and to carry out Project Based Learning and Research Based Learning activities by the students.
Hardware Facilities:In Microwave & Optical Communications lab students are given hands-on experience on setting up the microwave bench for studying the characteristics of microwave sources, scattering parameters of microwave components and radiation pattern of microwave antennas. This Lab fills the gap between theory and experimental techniques. Students will also get exposure to the use of microwave test equipment for making measurements of frequency, VSWR, S-parameters, impedance and guide wavelength.
The lab is equipped with hardware following Hardware:The Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) laboratory aims to produce trained professional engineers on par with industry standards and also to significantly contribute to the design aspects of VLSI Design and Device Modelling. The laboratory is equipped with the latest IC design tools and sophisticated hardware facilities which help students to learn the required skills thoroughly. The laboratory caters to the need of the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) students.
Hardware Facilities:The DSP laboratory is designed to supplement the lectures on the subject. Various practical experiments taught are overview of discrete-time signal and systems in time and frequency domain, sampling and reconstruction of analog signals, digital filter design and implementation, spectrum estimation and fast algorithms. The programming language used is MATLAB, widely used for high performance numerical computation and visualization. There is also a provision for the student to perform real time implementation of DSP algorithms using Texas Instruments processors like TMS320C6713. Facilities at DSP laboratory include the following usage of students’ activities such as Project based Learning, Research based Learning etc.
Hardware Facilities:The Project Laboratory is engaged to take up innovative ideas of students projects. The lab is set up with the objective to motivate and encourage students. This provides a platform for ECE students to participate innovative ideas with faculty. The lab has all facilities which provide a clear cut idea of the processes behind the Electronic Product Design. The key features of the laboratory are Virtual Labs Printed Circuit Board Lab, IOT tools, Licensed Simulation and Design Tools which facilities to fabricate any B.Tech level electronic products. The lab also stock all required items to make models of the products before actual fabrication.
